Our Beginning

1908, Murphy & Ames Lumber began as a family business in Northern Virginia. Our current President, the great grandson of the founder, took the company in a new direction while staying true to our beginning. His focus on arboriculture, climbing tree care, and difficult tree removals opened the door to sourcing live slabs and lumber from domestic hardwoods. This sustainably sourced lumber is used to create fine furniture by our growing family of affiliated craftsman.

Today, our business offers full service tree care and when needed tree removal and stump grinding. This model enables us to support the full life cycle of the tree and give it new life as fine furniture, enriching the lives of generations to come. Tell us about your next project!
